The Impact of Shipping Price Fluctuations on Hose Clamp Industry

Recent data from the Shanghai Aviation Exchange reveals significant shifts in the Shanghai Export Containerized Freight Index (SCFI), with implications for the hose clamp industry. Over the past week, the SCFI experienced a notable decline of 17.22 points, reaching 1013.78 points. This marks the index’s second consecutive weekly drop, with the rate of decline widening from 1.2% to 1.67%. Notably, while the route from the Far East to the West Coast of the United States saw a modest increase, other major routes experienced declines.

Specifically, the freight rate per FEU (forty-foot equivalent unit) on the Far East to West Coast America line rose by US$3 to US$2006, indicating a weekly increase of 0.14%. Conversely, the freight rate on the Far East to US East Coast line saw a significant decrease of US$58 to US$3,052 per FEU, reflecting a weekly decline of 1.86%. Similarly, the Far East to Europe line witnessed a notable decrease, with the freight rate per TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) falling by US$50 to US$802, representing a weekly decline of 5.86%. Additionally, the Far East to Mediterranean line experienced a drop in freight rates, with a decrease of US$45 to US$1,455 per TEU, marking a decline of 2.77%.
