Socket/Spigot Connection:
- Socket: One end of the ductile iron pipe is enlarged into a bell-shaped shape.
- Spigot: The other end of the pipe is a straight, plug-in end.
- During installation, the spigot is inserted into the socket, with a sealing material (usually a rubber seal) filling the gap, creating a flexible or semi-flexible connection.
